Advantages to teachers and examiners

Behind every great dancer is a great teacher, therefore BTDA Teachers and Examiners are crucial to every student because its their responsibility to help them reach their full potential.

Why join the BTDA teaching team?
To become a BTDA teacher, you will need to have reached a high standard
in the dance subjects you teach. You will need to be able to understand the artistic, technical and professional content of our programmes. Furthermore,
you will need to know what 'makes students tick' - i.e. how they learn and
what makes for effective teaching.

Our teachers are expected to encourage all students to achieve their goals and to share their own enthusiasm for dance.

You will need to be a member of the BTDA, 18 or over and be able to pass our selection and training process to be able to demonstrate the BTDA's required levels of technical knowledge and safe working practices. Regular training and continuing professional development as teachers of dance forms an important part of this.

If this description sounds like you and you fit the criteria above, why not consider becoming a BTDA teacher?

Why become a BTDA examiner?
Examiners play an essential role in maintaining the standards necessary for students to succeed in theatre dance. They contribute to the artistic, technical and professional content of our syllabuses and ensure everyone understands and works within safe working practices.

BTDA examiners draw upon a wealth of experience and knowledge, not just in dance but also in the theatre, business and professions. They include university graduates, dance festival adjudicators, theatre professionals as well as teachers in schools and colleges. All of them are qualified, registered and working as BTDA teachers of dance with the understanding necessary to assess students' achievements effectively.

If the above description sounds like you, why not consider becoming a
BTDA examiner? You'll need to demonstrate consistently high standards of examination results in our core disciplines of Classical Ballet, Modern Jazz
and Tap and pass our selection and training process.
