Ann Oliver MBE
I formed the British Theatre Dance Association in 1972 after being asked by professional choreographers ‘why they needed to re-train dancers to perform the latest dance styles even though they had been attending lessons’, the BTDA Modern Jazz programmes were devised and thus BTDA was born. Since then it has gone from strength to strength and whilst the team now take care of the day to day running of the organisation I still steer its direction and am actively involved ensuring that teachers needs are taken care of. Please don’t hesitate to contact me if you want to talk about anything.
I have been involved with BTDA since it was founded in 1972 in various different guises, candidate, teacher, examiner, General Secretary. For me the highlights about working for BTDA are the people, the BTDA team, our examiners, outside consultants from whom I have learnt so much, and of course the membership. Whilst the pressures of regulation, policies and procedures and having to dot the ‘I’s and cross the ‘T’s are the mainstay of my working day, it is the interaction with the members that keeps me sane, I just love being able to help, if I can.
In my role as the Examination Secretary my daily tasks are dealing with Teachers in regards to their examinations sessions in particular the sourcing and allocating of examiners. Amongst other things I also arrange the annual scholarships. I am always at the other end of the telephone if you have any queries.
I am the Standardisation Officer here at BTDA, a job based closely with Helen. Dealing with Examiners, Certification & GQAL, and well actually anything and everything I’m asked to do - I’m a triple threat in an office environment. Always here if you need me, so give me a call.
I am part of the Admin Team here at BTDA, my job roles include dealing with exam sessions, checking certificates and answering queries as well as dealing with ‘Examtrack’ which I know you all love! I am very friendly and love talking to teachers so please give me a call.
I have worked for BTDA for a number of years and deal with Candidate Registrations, Memberships and the Teachers Registration Scheme. If something is out of date then it will probably be me who chases you. I am just at the other end of the telephone if you have any queries.
My role includes a multitude of things, from assisting teachers with the Teaching Qualifications and Registration process to answering Programme of Study queries. I also help the General Secretary with whatever she throws at me and cover some of her roles when shes away (big shoes to fill!!)
I am the receptionist at BTDA so I’m the first person you speak to when calling and I am also the first person to greet you when entering the building. I also deal with the Pin Badge / Triple and Grade 5 Award orders and ensure they are despatched as quickly as possible.
My role is to ensure that the Theatre Dance News is edited and produced ready for distribution to all the members. I also assist the team at any outside events we run. I am also privileged to be a Trustee of the Association so if you have any points you would like to discuss with me then please don’t hesitate to give me a call.
